Staurogyne sp. "Porto Velho"

Staurogyne sp. "Porto Velho" is a relatively recent addition to the European aquatic plant hobby and continues to remain a rarity. Originating from South America, this plant exhibits moderate growth rates and assumes a creeping growth pattern when submerged. Its underwater foliage consists of narrow lanceolate leaves that taper to a long point. The submerged form is predominantly greyish-green, accented by a subtle purple tint. To truly flourish and form its appealing carpet-like spread, Staurogyne sp. "Porto Velho" requires strong lighting as well as ample CO2 and nutrient supply.
